The Ajmer
The city of Ajmer was founded by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan in the 7th centur AD which continued to be a  major centre of the chauhans till 1193 AD. Ajmer,once a favourite residence of the Mughals, is a centre of culture and education today. It is also a popular pilgrimage centre for Hindus. as well as Muslims. Ajmer is also access piont for visiting Pushkar (14 km), the abode of lord Brahma, lying to its west with a temple and a picturesque lake.

Ajmer can be easily reached by road from both Jaipur and Delhi.

Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti Dargah     

The shrine is in honour of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti- a sufi saint from persia who died here in 1236. For the Muslims of India, this is a most revered shrine, next only to the sacred shrine at Mecca.




Adhai Din ka Jhonpra

Located on the outskirts of the town, this landmark structure stands testimony to the ancient Indo Islamic aechitecture. Designed by Abu Bakr of Herat, the mosque is beleived to have been built in two and a half days, and is thus named Adhaidin.

Pushkar 

Located 11 km from Ajmer, Pushkar is separated from it by the winding Nag Pahar (snake maountain).
According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma dropped a lotus flower on earth and Pushkar emerged to the surface.  A temple dedicated to Brahma has been built here. The savitri Temple nearby atop a hill offers spectacular views. It can be reached by a one hour trek. Yhe near by Pap Mochani Temple also worth a visit for its stunning views. 



                                                 Kishangarh

This sleepy little hamlet located 27 km from Ajmer, was once the capital of a princely state ruled by the Rathores. It nurtured one of the finest schools of miniature paintings in the 18th century


Bani Painting                       

The Bani Thani style of miniature painting in Kishangargh evolved under Nihal chand, the court painter of Raja Sawant singh.
